Shelby John Nealy Killed In-Laws After They Grew Suspicious Over His Missing Wife Jamie Ivancic: Cops

Four members of the Ivancic family are dead, and the alleged timeline of their murders is now becoming clear thanks to newly released court documents. Shelby John Nealy, 25, was arrested last month in connection with the deaths of his wife, his in-laws, and his wife’s brother; upon being apprehended in Ohio, he reportedly confessed to the killings, saying he’d killed wife Jamie Ivancic in Port Richey, Fla., in January 2018 and managed to fool her family into thinking she was alive but wasn’t available to come to the phone. Per the documents, he moved to Texas after her death and kept up the ruse—until the fact that they hadn’t heard Jamie’s voice sparked her parents’ concern. The alleged motive in killing Laura, Richard, and Nicholas Ivancic was to hide Jamie’s murder, reports WTSP.

The documents say Nealy drove from Texas to Tarpon Springs, Fla., “with the intent to kill all three victims,” per WFTS. He allegedly killed Richard with a hammer on Dec. 15; wife Laura met the same fate upon arriving home. Their bodies were concealed in area rugs and put in a bedroom. Nicholas, Jamie’s brother, was subsequently killed with a hammer as he slept. Police say Nealy ordered pizza and had it delivered to the home a week later. He was captured on surveillance video at a Home Depot buying painting and other supplies, and at a pawn shop where he pawned jewelry. One of his paint-covered shirts was found in the home’s washing machine. Nealy then moved to Ohio, signing a lease on Dec. 24. The Ivancics’ bodies were found Jan. 1, and Nealy was arrested two days later. He was extradited to Florida on Saturday, reports the Tampa Bay Times. (Read more on the case here.)
