What Her Parents Found Got Her Arrested

A Florida woman was arrested Friday after her parents made a terrifying find in her bedroom, Fox News reports. Michelle Louise Kolts, 27, had apparently stashed two dozen pipe bombs, other weapons, and books and DVDs on subjects including bomb-making and mass killing. (See tweeted images of her alleged weaponry here and here.) “It would’ve taken less than 60 seconds per device to add the powder-infused material she already possessed to detonate each bomb,” Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister told Fox 13 News. “If used, these bombs could’ve caused catastrophic damage and harm to hundreds, even thousands of people.”

Kolts had no specific hit list but admitted she planned to hurt people, said Chronister. Deputies had visited her last August after a printing company told authorities she’d asked for manuals on anarchy and bomb-making—but, according to Chronister, she had no mental health diagnosis and said “her intentions were not to harm anyone. Her parents said she was a little on the autism spectrum.” A year later her parents called the sheriff, and the arrest followed. She was hit with 24 counts of building a destructive device with intent to harm and is in jail without bail, per Bloomingdale Patch. She had apparently become obsessed with the Oklahoma and Columbine killings. (Read more terrorism stories.)
