Two men were stabbed during an argument near the Michigan Avenue bridge early Saturday morning, police said. Both victims are in critical condition.

A 30-year-old man was walking with his girlfriend on the 300 block of North Michigan when he got involved in an altercation with a group of two men and two women around 12:07 a.m., according to police. The fight turned physical, and the victim received stab wounds to the chest and back.

Police said a 23-year-old passerby intervened in the fight and he received a stab wound to his thigh.

Both victims were transported Northwestern Memorial Hospital.

Cops followed a blood trail from the attack scene on the 300 block of North Michigan, across the DuSable bridge, and as far as Hubbard Street before it faded out.

Witnesses said the primary offenders, a black male and a black female, escaped via a southbound Red Line train at the Grand station. Both wore red jackets with jeans, and one wore a white shirt, witnesses said. One of them also appeared to be cut or stabbed.

No one is in custody. Area North detectives are investigating.
